Local Knowledge

I’ve lived and worked in Siem Reap for over a decade, building websites and working directly within the hospitality and tourism sector. That experience has given me first-hand insight into what makes the local market unique, and why Siem Reap isn’t a straightforward place to do business. It’s seasonal, it shifts quickly, and tourism influences almost everything.

I’ve worked closely with hotels, tour companies, restaurants, and local services as a freelancer. I’ve spoken directly with guests of all price points, answered their questions, understood their expectations, and seen how businesses succeed or struggle depending on how clearly they communicate online. I’ve also experienced the city in the same way visitors do, adding an important layer of perspective.

Local knowledge and insight directly shapes how I approach web design. It influences structure, messaging, and user experience, helping businesses stand out in a crowded market and remain visible throughout quieter periods. The result is websites designed to support long-term growth in Siem Reap’s unique environment.

Integrated Photography and Web Design

Being an experienced commercial photographer shooting for international luxury brands as well as local businesses in Siem Reap sets my web design services apart by creating a streamlined process from conception to delivery. Alongside professional web design, I create original, authentic, and eye-catching photography tailored to your business, your brand, your audience, and your goals. This integrated approach gives your website a consistent visual identity and removes the need to work with multiple providers, saving time while ensuring a cohesive result.

Hiring me for both photography and web design is an investment that saves you money in the long run. You avoid the common scenario of paying twice – once for cheap work that doesn’t perform, and again to fix it properly.

Because I do both photography and web design, the process is streamlined from the start. I understand what images a website needs and how they should be shot to support the layout, messaging, and overall brand feel. You don’t have to hire two different people, explain your vision twice, or worry about whether the visuals and design will work together.

Everything stays consistent style, tone, color, flow, and purpose. The result is a website that feels cohesive and professional, built with imagery that strengthens the design instead of working against it. It saves time, eliminates unnecessary back and forth, and gives your business a stronger online presence from day one.

SEO for Siem Reap Businesses

Search Engine Optimization in Siem Reap needs to be optimised to the local market. The audience is primarily international travelers researching from overseas, a smaller number of people in Phnom Penh planning their weekend or holiday getaway, and some locals looking for services. Each group searches differently, and their priorities aren’t the same. With international experience, I’m aware of the phrases travelers use, the information they expect to see immediately, and the way local businesses need to position themselves online.

When I build a website for a Siem Reap business, I design the structure and content with this in mind. It’s not about cramming in keywords. It’s about creating a website that answers the questions people actually ask, presents information clearly, loads fast on any device, and makes it easy for the right audience to find you. That combination of clarity and practical SEO will work better for the local market than a generic approach that may be taken by those without a real understanding of the Siem Reap market.

Because I’ve been involved in these industries first hand, I know what information needs to come across clearly on a website and what actually matters to the people viewing it. It’s not just about listing rooms, tours, or menus. It’s about presenting them in a way that builds trust quickly, answers the right questions, and feels authentic to Siem Reap. That understanding makes a real difference in how I approach design for local businesses.

Siem Reap building a website

Designing Websites Around Siem Reap’s Tourism Cycle

Siem Reap is a tourism-driven market with most businesses directly or indirectly influenced by tourism trends. Effective web design here needs to reflect that reality. Visitor demand changes throughout the year, audiences shift by season, and businesses often need their websites to perform different roles depending on market conditions.

A website built for Siem Reap should do more than showcase a business during peak season. It needs to support visibility during quieter months, guide different types of visitors, and convert interest into enquiries when competition is highest. That requires clear structure, adaptable messaging, and content that aligns with how travelers actually plan and book.

Having worked on marketing-focused projects for hotels, restaurants, tour companies, and local services, I design websites with these needs in mind. From prioritizing the right pages in search results to structuring content around seasonal demand, every decision is made to help businesses remain competitive throughout the year.

The result is a website designed specifically for Siem Reap’s tourism economy – one that supports long-term visibility, steady enquiries, and sustainable growth, not just short-term peaks.

Working in Siem Reap means you naturally end up collaborating with a wide range of businesses. Over the years I’ve worked closely with hotels, tour companies, restaurants, cafés, and local services, and each one has its own challenges. You see the trends – the questions guests ask, the things they struggle to find online, what influences their decisions, and the small details that make a website feel trust worthy.

That understanding makes a real difference in how I approach web design for local businesses.

How Photography and Design Work  Together

Photography makes a huge impact in web design. Years of shooting hotels, food, tours, and real people taught me how visuals shape the way someone feels when they land on a page, and whether they choose to stay or leave. A strong image can guide someone, simplify a message, or create trust before they even read a word.

When I photograph for a web project now, I’m thinking about layout, flow, and purpose. It’s not about taking the prettiest shot – it’s about creating an image that supports the design, strengthens the story, and makes the whole website feel cohesive. This blend of skills makes a noticeable difference, especially in a visual city like Siem Reap where people rely heavily on imagery when choosing hotels, restaurants, and tours.

I have extensive experience shooting for hotels, tour companies, product vendors, and also shooting tourists on holiday when they visit Angkor Wat and the Angkor temples. I’m frequently asked directly by travelers – what should we do in Siem Reap? Where should we eat? Where should we stay? This is all useful experience when creating the link between your business and your prospective clients.

A Fusion of Passion, Skills and Experience

Designing websites for Siem Reap businesses is something I’ve grown into naturally. Living here, working with local companies, talking with travelers, and seeing how the city changes throughout the year all feed into how I approach each project. It’s a mix of design, communication, local insight, and practical experience that helps me build websites that feel considered and genuinely useful.

Whether you run a hotel, a tour company, a restaurant, or a local service, the goal is the same – create a website that presents your business clearly, builds trust quickly, and works for the people you want to reach. If that sounds like what you’re aiming for, I’d be happy to help.

I only take on projects I believe in. I support businesses with soul, beauty, passion or purpose.

Some of my latest Siem Reap web design work

La Riviere d'Angkor Boutique Hotel

A website designed for a boutique hotel in Siem Reap, Cambodia, set within a restored French colonial building on the riverbank. The objective was to reposition the hotel with a clear, high-quality digital presence that reflects its character and encourages direct bookings.

The site was structured to build trust quickly, communicate the experience with clarity, and guide visitors through a simple decision-making journey. From first impression to room selection and booking, each section supports conversion while maintaining a calm, considered feel that aligns with the property itself.

Built with SEO and long-term growth in mind, the website helps the hotel reduce reliance on third-party platforms and strengthen its direct booking channel.

Key Considerations for the La Riviere d'Angkor Boutique Hotel Website

Brand Positioning and Credibility

This project involved designing and building a completely new website for La Rivière d’Angkor, replacing the previous site with a structure built specifically to increase direct bookings.

The objective was not simply to improve aesthetics. The goal was to strengthen positioning, build trust quickly, and guide visitors toward reserving directly through the hotel rather than third-party platforms.

The design reflects the calm, architectural character of the property. Layout, spacing, and typography were chosen to communicate quality and credibility without excess. Every element supports clarity and decision-making.

All photography used throughout the website was produced as part of this project. By controlling both the design and the imagery, the digital presentation feels cohesive and intentional, reinforcing trust at every stage of the booking journey.

Booking Journey and Conversion Structure

The site architecture was built around one core outcome: increasing direct reservations.

To achieve this, the structure:

  • Presents rooms in a clear, comparable format

  • Integrates booking calls to action at consistent decision points

  • Reduces friction between browsing and reserving

  • Prioritises mobile usability, where the majority of hotel searches begin

Information is layered strategically. Guests can explore the property naturally, while the booking pathway remains visible and accessible throughout the experience.

The result is a calm and refined interface supported by a commercially focused structure.

Technical Build and Long-Term Growth

The website was built in WordPress using Elementor containers, allowing for flexibility and long-term scalability. The hotel team can manage rooms, imagery, and content internally without developer dependency.

Performance optimisation, structured metadata, and clean heading hierarchy were implemented to support hospitality-focused SEO. The site targets relevant searches such as boutique hotel in Siem Reap and accommodation near Angkor Wat, supporting sustainable organic growth.

This project demonstrates how thoughtful hospitality website design can strengthen brand perception while directly supporting revenue through increased direct bookings.

Refined Visual System and Brand Consistency

The visual direction of the website was intentionally restrained. Colour is used selectively to guide attention and reinforce hierarchy rather than decorate the interface.

The palette supports the architectural character of the property and creates a calm, consistent experience across all pages. Design elements were chosen for longevity, ensuring the website will remain relevant and durable rather than trend-driven.

Because the photography was produced specifically for this project, the imagery integrates seamlessly into the layout system. Visual tone, composition, and spacing were considered alongside the website structure, resulting in a cohesive brand presentation rather than disconnected design and photography.

This level of integration ensures the site reflects the property accurately while maintaining clarity and usability.

Ongoing Strategy, Hosting, and Site Management

My role in this project extends beyond design and launch.

I host and manage the website, providing ongoing technical oversight and strategic support. The focus is long-term performance, stability, and growth rather than a one-off build.

Ongoing support includes:

  • Managed hosting and performance monitoring

  • Technical updates and security maintenance

  • Booking system oversight

  • Content and image updates as needed

  • SEO monitoring and structural refinements

Rather than periodic redesigns, improvements are handled strategically and incrementally. This ensures the website continues to support direct bookings, maintain performance standards, and adapt to the hotel’s evolving needs.

The objective is to operate as a long-term digital partner, aligning the website with business goals and revenue performance over time.

This project is an example of my boutique hotel website design and direct booking strategy work within the hospitality sector.

Siem Reap Airport Transfers

A website designed for a local transport company in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The goal was to create a clean, trustworthy, and easy-to-use site that instantly communicates reliability and professionalism to arriving travelers. The design focuses on simplicity and speed — allowing visitors to find prices, vehicle options, and booking details within seconds. Built with SEO in mind, the website targets high-value travel keywords and helps the business appear prominently in Google search results for “Siem Reap airport transfers” and related queries.

Considerations of this Web Design Project

Trust & Clarity

Visitors arriving in Cambodia often look for dependable transport they can book with confidence. The site’s layout, typography, and blue color palette were chosen to convey safety, professionalism, and clarity – reassuring travelers that they’re dealing with a reputable local service.

Conversion Focused

Every section of the website was built to encourage quick action. Prominent booking buttons, fixed pricing, and clear transport details reduce hesitation and improve booking conversions, even on mobile.

SEO Optimized

Technical SEO and structured data were implemented to help the site rank for high-intent local travel searches. Fast loading speeds, optimized images, and localized keywords ensure strong visibility across search engines.

Trust Through Photography

Many transport and tourism companies rely on generic stock photos or AI-generated images that have nothing to do with Siem Reap. Larger companies often use the same recycled visuals that feel artificial and disconnected from the real experience. Because I live and work in Siem Reap and I’m an experienced commercial photographer, I can create authentic photography that immediately builds trust.

For this website, every image was planned to show real drivers, real locations, and the actual airport experience. Genuine, high quality photography reassures travelers that they are dealing with a reliable local business and it plays a huge role in increasing conversions.

Siem Reap Airport Transfers offers a professional private car transfer service in Siem Reap.
